Resistance Film Series - Anita Hill: Speaking Truth to Power

The Resistance Film Series at Forbes is showing
"Anita Hill: Speaking Truth to Power"
Jan. 10, Wednesday, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Forbes Library community room downstairs.

Discussion afterward with Lindsay Sabadosa, Director of the Pioneer Valley Women's March (scheduled for Jan. 20th) will lead us in discussion of the film, its relevance today, and what we might think about doing locally on this issue.

"The entire country watched as Anita Hill, a young black African-American law professor, sat before a 1991 Senate committee of 14 white men and with a clear, unwavering voice recounted the repeated acts of sexual harassment she had endured while working with U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Hill was challenging Clarence Thomas' nomination to the US Supreme Court and exposed the problem of sexual harassment to the world. Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Freida Lee Mock creates a thoughtful, deeply felt account of Hill's remarkable journey and transformation from private citizen to internationally respected gender equality activist.

Carolyn Oppenheim, Film Series co-coordinator with Frances Crowe.
